I have been in the helping profession since 2014 and worked with individuals, families, and communities in Nigeria and Canada. My passion is providing space and healing to people who have been through traumatic/challenging experiences.
My approach to treatment necessitates therapeutic alliance, which encourages the mutual development of therapy goals. I use the family systems theory as a grounding modality based on the premise that most adult challenges are deeply rooted in childhood experiences. I recognize that no one approach is ideal for every Individual. Therefore, I draw from different clinical modalities like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, Person-centred approach, and biopsychosocial approach trauma-focused therapy. I have amassed training and experience in trauma, abuse, and addiction. I am a part of/have experience working with BIPOC families and communities.
Gertrude is culturally responsive, LGBTQIA2S+ affirmative and is accepting new clients.
